Osprey & Daniel Mersey have announced there will be a fantasy version of Lion Rampant, revolving around the same unit sizes/scales and using the same core rules.

I've not played the original, but my ears pricked up because Dragon Rampant translates in my head to "Winter is coming..."

I can do you an intro to the system at some point; it's a very light and easy ruleset and the figure requirements aren't that high (some people have built Agincourt English armies out of single Perry boxes, so 25 quid gets you on the table).
There are quite a few people using the rules for GoT stuff -- combinations of the various plastics box sets for the figures (in fact there was an article in a recent WSS about using combinations of Perry & GB to get plausible but obviously non-historic figures). The army lists are very tweakable so it's easy to end up with the "right" kinds of units for the nations.

I'd certainly like to try out the rules, and £25 to get on the table at 28mm (in a historical setting, egad) is an extremely good deal to say the least.
Agincourt-through-WotR isn't my period of history and I would find it tough to get into, but I was considering building 2+ forces for a 'Thrones setting last year, and if there's interest in actually playing games with 'em that would send the project right back up the to-do list. I was planning to take a look around the terrain cupboard anyway this Monday coming so I will have to see what we have at our disposal for Westeros, like the tiny, polystyrene Capability Brown that I am.

Thrones is basically early WotR era military minus gunpowder plus greek fire, so I'd think that most of the regular GoT units can be modelled with the LR rules. One of the big additions promised for DR is a proper set of rules for large creatures (giants, dragons &c).

Ahoy!
Katie - I was planning to do some prep to run a game on Monday myself, but was unsure if you were one of the group doing Deathwatch. If you are free, would Monday the 4th be a good time to try out the Rampant rules?
I can see a fair bit of flexibility in the Perry boxsets and depending on how the ruleset works out I fancy putting together some troops for the Riverlands Campaign. If bases are interoperable for Rampant and you wouldn't regard it as too gauche, that could open the way for larger scale ahistorical games a la Battlegames' War of the Faltenian Succession.

Crunch! Well I think last night's confrontation demonstrated that the handgun is still somewhat ahead of its time, and that one should never leave units too close to the edge of the board. That said, a fun system, not too pedantic, and with plenty of scope for deployment in Westeros. Many thanks.
