Many thanks to all that joined in on Monday for a thoroughly good evening of dogfighting with the Sopwith Camel, Spad XIII, Fokker DR1 and Albatross V. Very much a case of Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals. Most certainly when the Sopwith Camel exploded 3 games in a row! In other news I ordered a Fokker D-VII and a Sopwith Snipe (Which should kinda balance each other.) to being me up to 6 planes altogether which a I think is sufficient for me for the time being but if anyone wants to go crazy and actually have their own aircraft all the craft in the range seem to come in a variety of different colour schemes to make even 2 of the same type stand out from each other.

Heck of a game, Dan. Not half so easy to learn to fly as the gameplay might suggest! We must play again.

The Red Baron copped it in the end but that was a good fun 3 v 3 game last night. Thanks all.

Plus a Airco DH-4 and a Roland C2.
So 12 planes in all now.
Am playing a game of this with Dave tonight so anyone else want to play?

Many thanks for the games chaps! I've read the rules for Photo recon and Bombing and we can give those a try soon. They generally involve you needing to do a steep manouver (Stall) on just the right spot to let lose you bombs or take the snaps.

If you do bombing then do use ground targets and AAA fire, they make things challenging!

That's my plan. I'll map out a trench line and set up infantry and flak cards. I'll use those brown strips of felt we've got for the line and that thinner cloth for the ground to make it look a bit nicer.

Shapeways are expensive if you want a decent model of small size that takes the paint well due to the material needed, but they do have the joy of filling the gaps of other ranges who decide its uneconomical and don't bother making a master, so it is great for such things and good for odd scales too. The problem with decks is not so much finding out what is in them as each plane or manoeuvre deck certainly used to list what cards it had , but in getting enough copies, so replacement card options is thing to make up. One suggestion from the previous owners (in the Rules I think) was to have a deck for doing manoeuvres and a set of cards for playing to the decision spaces with just the Deck and Card number allowing you to share one deck amongst several planes.
