If you could pop Wings of War in your bag of tricks that could work well for something easy and fun in the flight category? And it's simple enough that I believe we all know how to play it.

Would it be worth sending an email to everyone who we've got the address of and let them know what's happening? Not everyone checks the forum/has been at the club when we've discussed the all day session

Thats something for the main with the complete email list or Yes Sir, Mr Lister, Sir for those not RedDwarfily challenged (teenage years must have been a heaving nightmare for Dave with that series).....
I have sent out an email to all registered users of the forum about the session when we first started thinking about it. This is an admin function of the forums (again Dave and Chris are admins so can do this) and so it could be done so again if people felt it was warranted but that list of registered users does not include everyone who is or has recently been a regular part of the club.
I can tell Colin on facebook and get him to pass it on to any nonregulars he knows. Equally we can hope that anyone who knows anyone else will tell them - Peter etc (looks at Dave and Dan).
Plus this has been mentioned quite a bit at the club, so I'd hope it would be well known in amongst current regulars.
We have not considered using it as a recruiting drive, but to that woudl require games of all sorts, board of different types and minis of different types to be organised to showcase the club and Im not sure we really have time to get that properly prepared and properly in place....although I think it is something we should consider later this year - ideally early October to catch the new crowd of students.
Bear in mind the the University has a strong gaming club and CRC teaches a game design course where they use assorted tabletops for teaching purposes....but I digress from the matter at hand.
Dave, any chance you can send to any email you have for current and other players, everyone else tell everyone you know who has been down the club, reach members who havent been for a game for a while and let them know that the club is running a long session please!

Right we had several games going on Sunday
1) Warhammer ECW - Chris and Katie 2) Flames of War - At various points Simon, Chris, Matt and Dave 3) Lightning War (Midway, D-Day and North Africa) - Tim and Dan 4) Legends of the Old West - ACW version - Simon, Tim, Katie, Chris and Dan 5) Republic of Rome - Chris, Tim, Matt, Dan and Dave 6) X-wing - Chris, Katie, Tim, Dan and Matt
Total of just under 10 people during the day.....
We can try and get more people for the next one - possibly not so close to school holidays next time?
Anyone want to do some AARs for posterity? I'll knock up a couple.

I'll kick off
Republic of Rome AAR: SO this is the Avalon Hill version of the game rather than the new release. We set up the Early Republic game and got going. Chris get the starting control of the Senate, and left to go slap the navy supporting the 1st Punic War upside the head. The rest of Rome got on with garnering money, concessions and support.
Chris suffered a slight setback with Macedonius scoring well but rolling a Standoff number. We planned to reinforce and go again the next turn while the Consuls passed round Rome to do stuff.
Plans eh? Who needs them. Hannibal appeared and the 1st Punic War became considerably more sticky. It actually lasted till the end of the game after a series of Standoffs and a Disaster roll, despite having 20 fleets in action and a high skill general - who was eventually recalled.
We did defeat the Illyrian War and made a province, Matt being the only Roman to lead a victorious army in the entire game. We had a Macedonian War out as well as a couple of leaders whose wars weren't around. We were spending money like water out of faction and personal treasuries to keep Rome's head above water with the replacement shipbuilding being needed to maintain the fight against Carthage. Fortunately the Shipbuilding concession was out and Dan was using the money to support Rome and generate Popularity.
Time ran out and by that time I have garnered the most influence, and survived Dave's assassination attempt. Dave had also blackmailed one Senator and left them on a popularity of -9.....we all know who was running Romanus Diurnum that game.
As always a good game for learning the rules of Republic of Rome, but really we could have done with a couple more turns to see if anyone could gather the needed 35 influence or if Rome sank under the weight of Phoenician aggression. Perhaps the next game we can move onto the Middle Republic for fun....

Needs some more scratching though.
So here's a new question. As this weekend took several months to organise, do we want to start talking about another one later in the year? If so do we want a new thread or not?
