Hi all, so despite my promises to bring New Angeles and recruiting at least Rory for it, I can't actually make it today :-(. Any takers for next week? New Angeles will require negotiation and alliances, but is 100% mud free (though there might be illness even though no plague ). boardgamegeek.com/thread/1687564/new-ecuador-space-biff-reviewCheers Kat

I failed to make it this week as well cos of 11 hours trying to ship code...
I'm going to try and be in next week and this could be fun.
(I have netrunner somewhere if people fancy a bash as well).

Don't worry. I don't think Rory was here this week either.

I'm up for New Angeles next week. Also I have the FFG Netrunner too, need to check if I have any decks built.

Excellent! I'll better go and re-read the rules now :-)

A good game though I think the six of us are in no position to run a city!
Did you manage to complete the game?

No. Also, we were playing counteroffers wrong.
The rule goes like this;
* Put a card face up on the counteroffer stack. * _Discard_ cards from your hand equal to the size of the counteroffer stack.
The cards played with a counteroffer don't count as support for the counteroffer. Support bidding starts with the active player with both offers at zero.
p11 in the Learn to Play illustrates this.

* _Discard_ cards from your hand equal to the size of the counteroffer stack *before you placed your card*.
This makes it a lot easier to create counteroffers.
Also, the Federalist wins if;
* Threat reaches 25 * AND They hold at least 25 capital at the time.

Other important missed rules;
* All players except the active player and the countering player become supporting players. * Normally only supporting players play support cards. * Special abilities are required for active/countering players to play support cards.

Wow, that last one changes the game play a lot - you really need to have people supporting you to push any offer through. But it also means you don't have to keep as many cards as you can until your turn to back your offer. Instead you can spend them to gain favors with others

Yes; It also makes the "win ties" ability a lot strong.

I won't make it today, I'm afraid, I'm breeding a cold or something :-(. How about a lunchtime session some time? Katie, would you be in as well?

I'm in for a lunch session. Got my decks at work already with the rulebook and more markers than we will ever need.

How about Friday? I think we can get one round with your decks done in a hour?
