Dear all, First, sincere apologies for my patchy attendance in recent weeks, my current rehearsal schedule is more gruelling than usual and I contracted a cold in late January which has only just started to clear up. I am planning to be in tomorrow and was firstly wondering who has booked in games and who will be at a loose end? I have two homebrew rulesets that I have been bringing down to club with no notice and I thought I would put them up here to see if anyone is interested in me bringing them tomorrow. First up is a Napoleonic Chess game devised by an old pal. It is a simple and elegant system but I have modified it with a deck of cards to allow for some more Clausewitzian friction. I will be using Russian and French miniatures circa 1854 and would like to play through the system a bit because I am painting a British army at the moment with a view to staging the Battle of the Alma in a few weeks. Secondly I have a starship combat ruleset which I wrote up about a year ago and booked Dan and Katie multiple times to play through. I then failed to turn up repeatedly through 2016 and I would like to get over my evident psychological block this year! This ruleset draws from Instant Thunder and uses a grid system and random deployment each turn. I am trying alternatives to the "Age Of Sail in space" qualities which I have found unsatisfying in my previous efforts within the genre. If anyone is free to try these with me it would be greatly appreciated. Might even be enjoyable!
