I could bring my wood elves again, failing that my dark elf hordes haven't been out for a while, nor my undead...

Nice cards.
Incidentally, because I'm not going to be there this is just for my interest (and maybe the next time), how large are the armies for these games you're playing? Points value or just unit numbers would be useful. It will give me an idea of what I might have to paint to get involved in the next one.

Well we use 24 point armies, a unit costs between 1 and 10 points. Most armies consist of 4-6 units and a unit at maximum is 12 figures - however, some Strength 6 units will only have 6 figures and some things will be single figure units.
Technically you could have a minimum of 3 figures on the table with two 10point units and a 4point unit expressed as single figure units.....

24 points is normal. Probably about 16 to 32 are playable.
Each unit typically consists of 6 cavalry, 6 foot or 12 foot. You can get away with using half the figures fairly easily[1]. Technically you can reduce further but unless they're "monsters" the game appearance suffers...
My 24pt Fomorians have units of 6, 12, 12 and 12 -- making a total of 42 figures. The 24pt Sidhe are 'halved' and hence have a 3, 6, 6, 6, 6 totalling 27.
I've got 8 point additional units for each of them which are monsters and gods respectively and are 6 "strength" units but with just two models.
On the other end of the scale, I use FW ratmen and they have 72 figures making up 7 units and that's about as many as is sensible.
[1] Each figure basically has two "wounds", you just need markers and be able to work out the total losses so far.

I remember reading about the 12 model units, but double up or more for bigger characters (with multiple wounds). I need to look at the rules again for the points->units thing; it seems that your units are 6pts each for Formorians, but I'm guessing that's based on their abilities as much as their numbers.
Luca leant me his spare copy, so I'll take another look

Most of my skaven are one model per strength point so most are 12 strong with a few having only six, but my warp cannon is a single figure unit, the rat packs are five and a handler. So I guess a fe over fifty for me

Points, strength and models are only loosely connected.
Points are paid per unit; Eg; "Elite Foot", 6 points. "Light Foot", 4 points. Extra abilities cost points -- there are even some downgrades which make the units cheaper.
Strength is a nominal size number associated with the unit. It's 6 for Elite Foot and 12 for the Light Foot. By default, in 28mm that's the same as the number of models in the unit and you track strength loss by figure removal.
But it doesn't have to be. Many people who play in smaller scales use 6 or 12 bases with several figures on each. Some people use a single multi-figure base per unit and just track the loss of strength points with casualty rings, markers or checkboxes.
Some of my forces use half as many models as strength and gain "wound" markers and I only take figures off when a full fraction of the unit is lost.
You just need to be able to determine:
1) How many strength points have been lost in total (it affects morale) and 2) whether the unit is under half original strength (affects the number of dice rolled in combat/shooting).
How you do that isn't actually hugely important.

RE Katie's rather Spiffy DR cards
Any chance that someone could have a sheet printed out for me. I am off work next week so no free access to the printing facilities for me :-)

I can probably get a batch printed; the ones that came out of my printer were a bit grey and these'll work for LR and Pikeman's Lament too so it's worth getting a bunch done.

I have a pile of the cards printed out. Or rather pages of the cards. You have to cut 'em out yourselves. 9 per sheet, so there's loads.
I recommend Ultra Pro "Pro Matte" Clear Standard to put them in. I can probably donate a few around but I need to hang onto enough for "Eminent Domain: Oblivion" when it finally ever ships ever if it ever ships. Not that I'm awaiting or anything.
I've also got them printing "Incursion: SNAFU" stuff. MI9, Panzeraffe, Gracie the Robot, extra APEs and scenario markers. Rules and cards for Nazi power armour but no figures sadly - might have to get metals.
