Here for those that didn't watch is a brief action report...
Two 3 plane Shotai of Zeroes (1941 Navy pilots) each led by a Junior Ace and mostly Vet pilots took on 6 Wildcats in two 3 plane section and a three plane section of Buffaloes with one Junior Ace leading one of the Wildcat sections with mostly regular pilots and one sprog. One player took each section.
The game went smoothly - one US player dived low while the other two climbed producing a result of the Japanese jumping the high flyers while the low US flyer climbed back up to engage from behind. Shooting varied - from the one US pilot who jammed his guns, used 10 of 18 blocks of ammo and slipped out of formation to the Japanese ace using one block of ammo and detonating a Wildcat. Lots of engagements, panic over lost formations and the game was really won by those bold enough to use Tricky and Hard manoevures to get a firing solution and stay there. Honourable mention must be made of the Buffaloes who scored the only US kill of the night. End result - Two Wildcats and one Buff shot down with one pilot escaping plus a further Buffalo damaged to one Zero shot down, two badly damaged and one surviving purely due to bingo fuel on his tailer (Out of Time).
