Dear all, There is a referendum, as I am sure you know. I'm happy with the apolitical nature of this board, but no matter which way you are planning to cast your vote, here is some important information. Tomorrow (Tuesday 7/6/16) is the last day that you can register to vote, if you have not already done so. If you are registered to vote then there is nothing further you need to do. Check with your local authority that you are registered, if you are not sure. Wednesday 8/6/16 is the last day to register for a postal vote if you are unable to make it to the polls on the 23rd. Note that postal ballots will be sent to wherever Next Wednesday (15/6/16) is the last day to register for a proxy vote if you are moving around in late July and will not be able to make it to the polls or recieve a postal ballot. Just a heads up in case you haven't registered yet.

In view of the results, maybe we should do a ECW2 / banana republic mash up game. South Cambs free state vs the Fenny popular front.

I look forward to playing Johnsons Whiff Waff Warriors in their clashes with the free cities of London and Cambridge plus incursions and border skirmishes from Scotland.

To be honest the scenario is blindingly easy to conjurer up.
The House of commons votes to ignore the referendum result. HM queen gets shouty, and we're off! On one side you have Cameron and the ~75% of the HOC who are pro-EU, on the other the Queen and the remainder of the MP's.
On the plus side this thread reminded me to order a copy of a Very British civil war, which I've been meaning to get for some time to have a look at the rules, as a lot of the data I have dug up over the years and is going into the next book is from the mid to late 1930's. That stuff wasn't accepted into military methods, but the technology and the ideas were. So it gives me an excuse to model these elements.

Who has not, whilst looking through the land warfare hall at Duxford, thought how many of the exhibits could not be re-commissioned.
Could form the centre of an ad-hoc armoured group. There are plenty of vehicles about for conversion into technicals.

The Ferret has a small technical issue on the armour front

The Ferret has a small technical issue on the armour front Like it had armour in the first case! The MG on their UN ferret is actually just a lump of metal.

The main problem for any "Duxford armoured column" would be a complete lack of ammunition. In addition keeping the vehicles just moving and repairing any breakdowns would also be a problem. However, it would make a great war-games force.
I remember that when travelling by train to Peterborough I would alway keep an eye out at March station for a yard on the north side of the station. It was full of surplus armoured vehicles, mainly Soviet APCs, but with a few Abbots and FV432 APCs. Unfortunately the company moved away sometime ago, so cutting the chance of armoured support for Fenland.

Such as the Finns putting a 20Pdr into a Comet. Or the Irish doing this: i20.photobucket.com/albums/b242/terryburke/FsmQuiz.jpgThere's a whole variety of modern tank guns that can be shoehorned in. Take the 76mm gun off the Scorpion, or the RARDEN gun, those are common as muck and so's the ammo. Or for something a bit Meatier you have the RUAG 120mm Compact tank gun. I stuck up a post about VBCW here: cambridgecitygames.proboards.com/thread/308/british-civil-war

Ammunition might not that impossible a problem.
With the lose of central control I can see a Silk Road 3 being your one stop shop for all your inserection needs. Loads of coastline with no border enforcement.
Amazon delivery by drone for smaller items.
Anyone read New Model Army by Adam Roberts ?

Also Cambridge is full of clever people with Chemistry degrees and quite a few decent engineering companies that I know personally.
Maybe even something bonkers like a rail gun from the bodfins/mad scientists from the colleges.
Crop spraying light planes dispensing LSD over Ely for shits & giggles.
Black powder muzzle loaders dead simple. Breach loaders not fare behind. All a bit chunky but could do the job.
The Fenland fanatics would have a good supply of fertiliser based explosives.
