I picked up the Brigadier 38 set of rules from the above page, and it looks interesting. The style is very much in FOW or Full thrust vein. The former for the style of play, the latter for its "here's some rules and points, do what the hell you want with them." attitude.
Command is done via a points pool system with each issued order having a cost. However when a Unit gets close to an enemy unit it can issue its own orders from a limited selection of choices. So you won't suddenly grind to a halt.
The rules have a few holes in them, such as entries on tables which do appear to have been intended to be there being missing. Such as the "Smartly Turned out in bright uniforms" not being in the shooting summary for small arms, but being in the Gun shooting tables. But those are pretty easy to work out.
Less easy to work out is the effect of being unbuttoned in an AFV. The text of the rules indicate that its more dangerous, but the tables neglect to mention its effect. But that's by no means an insurmountable issue.
There's also some badly worded bits such as defending loopholes, but again the intent is clear, and as we're not bounders (something the game repeatedly stresses are a bad thing) its a manageable flaw.
I do have some concerns though. The model scale and measurements are suggested to be 28mm and in Inches. When you have units like Cavalry having, potentially a 24" movement, and maybe even 30" if my skim reading is correct then things might get a little cramped on the table. One idea I had might be to use 15mm and CM's. The issue there is you're getting into individual basing, and 15mm can get a bit tricky at that point. However there's a set of platoon level skirmish rules (that I'll be ordering shortly!) that could suit the 28mm better. Plus there's the question of range of models.
So what's the scope of it, its more than possible to to have a gentleman, in a suit of knightly armour liberated from his stately home, armed with a Blunderbuss from the same source, accompanied by his loyal butler, leading his ground staff agaisnt a horde of Molotov chucking, dungaree wearing commies. While there are a number of source books, I suspect we can all come up with our own little ideas as to what a force should be.
Plus the armour rules are flexible enough you can use them to represent any of the madness that came out of the home grown armour industry between the wars.
So the only question remains, whose interested, and what scale?
