Still on for tomorrow? Have we got marines, or will it be SWATs facing up to the alien (not related to the film) menace?

Excellent game last night! Thank you very much for letting me have a go! And what a fantastic effort on the painting front, too. The marines had a great paint job. Should I upload the photos here? (Is there enough disk space?) I can put them on my own blog if not. A few things would've improved the game, I reckon: - Shorter table length! We had (at least close to) a 4x8' table! It took about 3 turns before anything could interact. - More terrain! Of course! - I think I can read the rules with a better idea of what the sticking points are. It might be good to create a sequence aid: what happens in Phase 1 (motivation/control, warmaster posture/miasma, ...), what the activation sequence is. Perhaps a flow chart? I'll give it some thought! Apart from this, it was awesome. BUT, of course, I would like to play more, so let me know when you're feeling motivated for another game. I can do the 1st of May, I think, and probably Mondays after that. Also, I couldn't find the eBay Kryomek haul you were talking about. The best I could find was a selection of Kryomek aliens: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322478989150 These would sate my urge to experiment with Kryomek basing, plus give a small alien force.

We have a maximum of 200Meg of image and attachment storage space for free on the forum. So linking in images to the text using phBB code is preferable, but if you are using jpg and gif that are small and you don't mind that in a few years they might disappear, go ahead because we aren't using a great deal at the moment. If we run out of space and I have to trim, then I will warn or otherwise save any images.

The huge lot closed last night -- with no bids, so it might be back.
That tenner bunch looks worthwhile.

I've been writing a widget which computes lookup tables.
So far, it's generating weapons tables;
wpn close short med long xt helion warr drone wm --- ----- ----- --- ---- -- ------ ---- ----- -- cg c12 c15 r3 c10 r2 c12 c8 c10 c6 cr c13 c11 c11 c8 c8 c4 c6 c2 g.cann c11 c14 c12 c9 c8 c4 c6 c2 gl c11 r0 c10 c6 c8 c4 gr c11 c14 c12 c9 c8 c4 c6 c2 h.fl c11 r0 c12 c8 c10 c6 l.fl c11 r0 c10 c6 c8 c4 lmg c11 c15 r3 c10 r2 c11 c7 c9 c5 mp c15 r2 c13 r2 c8 c4 c6 c2 pistol c11 c7 c3 c5 c1 rr-hap c11 c11 c9 c7 c6 c2 c4 c0 rr-sap c11 c11 c9 c7 c14 c10 c12 c8 shotg c13 c13 r2 c9 c5 c7 c3 smg c14 r2 c13 r2 c8 c4 c6 c2 xenoprod c9 c12 c8 c10 c6
These are column/rank lookups for hits then wounds for Elite Marines.
It needs feeding with more data but I should be able ot get to to produce some datacards with enough stuff on.

This is pretty nifty. You can really start to see how some of the weapons stack up at different ranges. The chain gun is a beast at short range! Instead of a column/rank number, you could have a code for the target value for 1-2-3 hits in the left-hand matrix and wound-kill (would vary with each kryomek caste) in the right-hand matrix. For example, a chain gun at short range would be 6-11-16; a machine pistol at the same range would be 8-15-/; a combat rifle would be 10-/-/.
The helion damage would be a single digit (target value for a kill), a warrior 2 digits (wound-kill) and a warmaster 4 (1CV-2CV-3CV-kill). Drones work like warriors, right, but with a different armour class, so would have a 2 digit damage code.
r0 = template, right?
Also, there's the assumption that the weapons are shooting at kryomek! Rebellions do not apply. Also, drones can pick up human weapons, it is said - although I don't see why they can't start with human weapons. I mean 'human' ;¬)

The tenner deal is worth about £60 new. There's postage to think about, but you have postage with new or old. It's really a £15 deal, assuming no bidding happens. Have you got the link to the haul? Although finished, the lot should still be viewable.

That is a mighty haul. The lot has been relisted (here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332181545122). Starting bid $195 (that's more!). Also, postage is $56. AND, import is $48. So, $300 total, really, which is ~£240. The seller claims the total value as $275, but also claims there are 46 blisters (I counted differently from the description, so it might be up to 50). Given that the packs are £7.50 or £6 each on Scotia's site, that's a total of £282 worth of Kryomek (£352.50 minus 20% discount) - plus two blisters of "Chaos Spawn".

Ah, you beat me to it (while I was adding up blister costs). In fact, the relist is $5 less this time. I think that's a lot of cash for me right now, given I have ~0 income while I'm on parental leave. I might go for the £15 mini-haul and some bases to test on. Once I'm back at work I can think about a larger investment. I'd like the physical rule books and a few squads/groups, at least.

Oh, and it's 53 blisters, including the two chaos spawn and the helion mechs (aka drones!).

In other news, I like your Python script. I might have a go at creating a web app to do something similar, but perhaps give you the target values. It takes the fun out of looking up the table, but it might be fun creating the app.

My plan was to generate printed reference cards by going Python -> LaTeX -> DVI -> PS -> PDF...
If it wasn't for that import duty, this would look a much better deal. What's annoying is that those are Grenadier blisters... made in the UK, so they've already had duty paid on them going the other way...
I would suspect that we could collect a reasonably big ScotiaGrendel order between various people -- there's not only the "Kryomek" stuff there, but some of the fantasy resin is useful for "Fantasy Warriors" gaming and they have some quite nice fantasy figures. There's also tanks and stuff suitable for "Horizon Wars". So getting into the 20% discount might not be hard and it's probably less griefy than imports.
