Right, slight pre-empting a new forum member but could any FoG players sing out here with a list of what armies they have as this is the game that has raised potential interest... Anyone not committed to a game in the next couple of weeks and could step up to give Ali a game?

That would be great, thanks! I can't actually make the 17th anyway. I've got Sassanid Persians so Romans might be more in period against them.
I should point out I'm totally new to this (I'm playing my first game this afternoon), so I'll almost certainly be a bit rubbish. And I don't think my W40K experience is going to be an awful lot of use.

If you are new to this then we an see if we can get another person involved to help walk you through the prcoessing of the game assuming you want that and they are around that week. Its been done before (for me for the first of my 3 games of FoG amongst a number of others) and from my experience it helps if someone gives you a rough idea of points of advantage vs impact vs melee and all....

Yeah, if there's someone available then that would probably be helpful, thanks.

Had a word with Chris, who is most experienced with it - so he said he can help out on the running the game front and he will bring a few armies as well so we might get more than one game going with enough player interest.

What version of FoG are people using, the original or the new version 2? I can't make it along to Monday night meetings at the moment, but I still have my WotR (Yorkist) and Byzantine armies.

Im still on the original rather than Version 2. So far as I am aware that is what Chris and Michael are using.
Ali is your rulebook version 1 or 2.
Im not sure how big the differences are between the two.

OK, first post here so something of a test. But yes, I've got loads of armies and am about ready to get them out again (except my useless medieval Scots)!
I have the v2 rulebook. The changes are somewhat subtle, manoeuvrability has been gimped, command and control has changed such that TCs can only control 2 BGs, so FCs become much more useful potentially. Armour has changed in a way I can't quite remember, I think it's something like if you're up in a fight your superior armour only counts if it's two levels higher than your opponents (e.g. armoured vs unprotected). They've also changed some of the combat factors, but skilled sword is still in there!

You mean you don't know your TCs from your FCs? My lord what has become of things!

I believe I have the v2 rulebook. But since I'm super organised and still haven't read it yet, I'll use whatever rules my opponents want to teach me for now.
