7th Sept is too close, 29th would seem to be best - though Im certain someone didnt like it.
I think we should try and organise it for then as otherwise we are going to slip into a never ending cycle of delay - unless we can rapidly get a firm date settled in early October.
Hi Chris, good to hear from you and hope to see you again.....yes given the last all day session we had there should be room for another table whatever date we settle on - we never used more than 3/4 of the space in the main hall last time despite having between 3 and 4 games going on.

Right pushing this date again - just so everyone reads it - 15th September! Who would book this with the Scouts? Can we see if its available asap please.... Then we can start listing games. I intend to run some from PBI, Republic of Rome, Civilisation (FFG version), Car Wars and/or Britannia....

I would like it to go somewhere so lets solidify things here.
I propose that we set a date of Sunday the 15th of September for the long session. Its the date that people have not objected to yet, its a good month away to fit in long term and short term planners diaries.
Do we have a large wave of objections?

Is it actually a closing down sale for the Cambridge store - the reports coming out of the administrators elsewhere (TMP and the like) were that this was essentially a fire sale to generate some cash flow which they thought would make the buisness a going concern - they even opened a new store in London after the receivers were called in - which is usually a sign of an attempt to recover the business rather than extract its assets for creditors.
Lego was on cheap too......

What other races does flintloque includes other than Elves, Orcs and Rats - I assume Human and Dwarf, but what else is there? Anything interesting?

I believe better out than in....
On that note - the Elf line varnished? Was it artillery or are they a skirmish unit gone to ground?

PBI

So we ran our first game of PBI. A learning experience both for the players and me running it.
I like the game system, it will go a lot faster with some practise as it is a buckets of dice game and sorting out the size of the bucket is what takes time.
Impression I was left with - reactive fire from LMG groups can be murderous if the LMGs are German. Opportunity fire can take a lot of time and does tend to force some level of static emplacement. You really need cover or veterans to advance under fire. We only got through 4 playerturns and I think with more we would have done much better in terms of game play. Its also surprising with buckets of dice all needing 6s and high saves just how much fire is needed to kill anything. Nice command and control method. If everything works there's little problem - but fail a motivation roll, or have casualties or be pinned and you have to think more.
So the battle. I'll leave details to those who were taking photos but here is a summary.
Hungarians - Average Troops 2 large infantry platoons with LMGs mixed in, one small rifle platoon, one 2 tube medium mortar platoon, 3 Toldi recon tanks, an ATG platoon with 3 guns, 2AT rifles and a commander.
vs
Germans - veterans 2 Infantry platoons - both with SMG armed commmander, a Schrek, 4 LMG groups and 3 Rifle groups. One 2 tube light mortar unit and 3 Panzer IV F2s.
Each had an artillery bombardment and the Germans had a sniper.
Recon proceeded with the Germans going Attacker and the Hungarians going reactive. After a few tries the Germans got their recon going and forced 3 Hungarian platoons to reserve (the mortars, the small rifle platoon and one large infantry platoon)
The German tanks were also in reserve.
Setup placed the Objectives fairly centrally with the Hungarians forming a rough line just in advance of halfway based around some built up ground and a lightly wooded hill. The Germans held to the centre and advanced to the right flank with heavy firepower and opened with a bombardment of the enemy centre, killing a couple of command stands. MG, mortar and rifle fire splayed back and forth, with Hungarian troops replying with HE from their ATGs and their advancing Toldis.
THe second turn saw interaction between AT weapons and armour, with only one hit to worry about.
We had to end their due to time, the Germans had advanced and captured one secondary objective and killed a few enemy troops. The Hungarians held 2 objectives, and some ground near the enemy. Overall VP score - 56 to Hungary, 26 to Germany. Timecount was 11 left of the 21 - so probably 3 turns left.
A few more turns would have made quite a bit of difference so I do not think we can really call the game - Hungarians reserves were massing, and the Germans were in a position to start assaulting and pincering the Hungarian defences. What would the armour arriving have done, what would have happened with an infantry rush to support the vilage under German occupation....who knows.
Twas fun to play and I look forward to playing some more of this particular ruleset.
