Hmm you know D&D could be fun as I've never actually played it properly in Pen and Paper form only in computer game form such as Neverwinter Nights. I would very much like to try Star Trek and Warhammer 4 would work for me too. But I'll pretty much go with whatever get the most votes as it where from that list. Wonder if we could each get our own ships in ST?

While I'm game with any of them, and will happily use them as an excuse to attend the club, my preference is something 40K. Because I know the background well, so Dark Hersey or Only War.
Of course I realise that some may want to break free of endless GW, so only take this as half a vote, if you get my meaning.

A couple of weeks ago we had a chat about where to go next with our monthly WHFRP session.
The choices seemed to be as follows (this is from memory, so feel free to chip in if I get something wrong)
1: Keep playing the same game/group as current. Although this has some limits as we only have about another six-seven years of material...) 2: Switch to a more modern version of WHFP, and roll new PC's. 3: Play something else.
For option 3: We could move across to the 40K universe, with the assorted systems for that, although there seems to be some disagreement on which system. We could switch to an entirely new game. Tim will, I'm sure, provide us a list of options.

I think the Imperium is 100% Lawful Evil. I don't think there's any ambiguity about that in the modern fluff. Maybe the Blue beakies of Macragge aspire to Lawful Neutral. Chaotic Good, on the other hand? My money's on the Harlequins. Hmmm you could be right there Rory! XD Though the Imperium is slowly changing what with Papa Smurf having returned from the almost dead and trying to reform it after being shocked by what it became... That's why you ignore the modern desperate retconing.

And 40k not having good guys really depends on your point of view. The Imperium of Man is arguably almost as good as it's possible for it to be given its situation. But it's not lawful good, so to speak. That's one of the advantages of the Tau human idea. It's easier for us to RP, as they have the technology similar to ours, unlike the imperium. Playing Tau is hard as they're alien, and you tend to get a blue human outcome, which doesn't really work.

Maybe if we did an Only War game, and stuck Daniel in a sentinel, then he could stomp about and pretend to be a Space Marine?

There was some talk last night amongst a few of us about starting up a 40K RPG. But there's much to discuss. Also, if you're not part of the WHFRP group, feel free to chip in, as not everyone will be able to commit from the WHFRP group.
First off Tim's schedule means that he can only GM the one campaign on Monday night. Thus the first question is: Do we want to pause WHFRP to resume, or start something else? Or do we want to continue the WHFRP? If the latter it is possible that I could GM a 40k game (Maybe even on a different night), we could also run it over discord, as that seems to be working. I've not GM'd for many decades though, so it may not be as smooth as Tim's. Another point to consider is that Chris (hat) has previously said he dislikes 40K as there's no good guys. I've no idea if this still holds true, but it would effect the decision to pause the WHFRP.
Another thing to discuss is what exactly would we be doing? As I see it, there's a few 40K ideas to play with:
Space Marines: That's Deathwatch as the core game. I do have some ideas to try something a bit different that would add a lot of variance to the game, and more it away from the well supported and equipped Deathwatch kill team idea. I was thinking of a renegade squad in the Maelstrom. It gives vastly more options as to story. Characters/motivation can range from the full on Chaos worshiper, to the disillusioned ultramarine who didn't brush his teeth in the codex approved manner and got exiled.
The other option is to work with Only War, which is Imperial Guard. Again I have some ideas such as a squad/platoon game there, or even the idea of a squad of Tau aligned humans (there's Chris' good guys) Which we could run in a similar way.
So there's plenty of options, but before we settle we'd need to have a chat on what to do, hence this post.

Looking at his new character, he is still a little crestfallen about that.... How much EXP is he worth if we sacrifice him?

We seem to have the usual non-committal acceptance of the date so Iwill be there with my DM hat on. We can always kill off those who do not attend..... Look at it this way, we sacrificed Daniel for +25 Exp.

I can confirm that he has a.....theodolite. He has been getting it out in public and making excited noises while grasping it. He has even made notes on what he has done. With pictures. Skink Rule 34...?
