You mean expanded polystyrene?
I would get it from eccleston & hart because I used to work with Mike who runs it. They're in Birmingham which may be a bit impractical.
See if there's an EPS block moulder somewhere nearer?

Woohoo!!!! I've just bought a bunch of boxes of plastics and some discount metals to make 24pt of each side (Mostly "plain" line units, some cav and some artillery). I'm going to dig out the metals and I think I could probably get 24pt of both out of them as well (Iron Brigade/Berdans for Union, Zouaves/skirmishers for Confed). Might have to paint some extras to make up numbers for them. If you're thinking of the perry plastics then a) There are usually deals at the shows. (I got five boxes for 70 quid from Caliver at Robincon) and b) we can probably arrange swaps of bits. (I could do with more of the skirmisher sprues in exchange for the march/charge sprues and both can be painted for either side). See: docs.google.com/document/d/1x_6_AqPsawgE7FVzJoaxmUIMV2RtYPABrdK-QiVXZ-o/editThe book has apparently sold out already and Osprey are about to do a second full print run!!

Specifically: I've started some Sontarans, & done some Sea Devils. I'm also doing Silurians and some Robomen. UNIT is mostly done, I'm dithering over starting the Doctors/Companions because they all need individual outfits.

SGTM.
Wasn't in yesterday due to lurgy. Still sleeping it off.
Went to ROBINCON on Sunday. Bought ACW terrain and LOADS of plastic miniatures. May have caught lurgy there.
Have painted some Dr Who miniatures.

Oh. Not that's entirely within my control. Would some sort of job maybe help? I could ask around?

OK, my copy of R&P has arrived -- it's all very nice. (Currently 9 quid on Amazon). There's defn some scope here for some super gaming if we declare a CLUB PROJECT!!! Basically, it's the Dragon Rampant system which you all know & love with some additions. There's a "close order" system which determines the number of dice rolled in shooting. There's a two stage "battered" system -- the first is "Disorder" which affects fighting ability, then "broken" which affects movement as well. I think that'll model the fighting of the time quite well. Like "Pikeman's Lament" there's a character system for commanders (instead of the dice-roll of LR/DR). One interesting change is that morale is now driven not by total losses, but by losses per turn -- so you have to inflict hard punches rather than slowly whittle down numbers. Unlike LR/DR/PL, failing an activation does NOT end your turn. For your education and entertainment, I'm compiling a list of some of the key differences at: docs.google.com/document/d/1dExu3QT9sm9sAinoPcboqjVelgEF3rsmSMZEjjdSluM/editForces-wise, they're a similar size. You could probably get a full army of 24pt from a box of Perry plastics, I think cavalry armies might need a box-and-a-half or people could split them for a unit each. Artillery looks like playing a good role and that's also out in plastic and people could probably split a box three ways between armies. Lots of cool flags and uniforms to paint. And yes, there are suitable rules for red trouser zouaves and green uniform snipers, iron brigade, native american contingents and all that. Who's up for some ACW?? I've got YARDS and YARDS of snake-rail fencing to use...

Oooh. I read the reviews (and the rules) and that sounds like a load of fun. I'll give it bash.

Yes, indeed -- "The Pikeman's Lament".
I'm currently painting up a bunch of forces for ECW -- some Scots, I already have some Parliament and Royalists.

For people wanting into this -- I have a coupon for 20% off Ground Zero stuff in January. I'm planning to get some Full Thrust ships that look fun, some "Moongrunt" 15mm stuff and some more 6mm things for "Horizon Wars"-- if people want to get some 6mm stuff I can add them to my order.
(I've started painting Moongrunt figures!! They're fun. Come out really well with washes. Running out of white undercoat now tho.

OK, I've finished a mech/power-armour mercenary group. I've also painted, but not yet based, some super-tanks. I've done a bunch of civilian vehicles. The tail-lights were fiddly but generally I'm quite enjoying the simplicity of painting 1/300. Next up: "Terran Authority" combined arms combat teams. I was pondering trees. I have the ones I made, and somewhere the parts for making more... but there is this option: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160pcs-Model-Trees-Train-Street-Railway-Layout-Diorama-Wargame-1-250-Scale/201831543416Could multi-base them on something from Warbases.
