Well, the good news is my parent’s have offered to pay the war tax so I can keep attending the club. Still very short of money, though.

I wasn’t being entirely serious (though the current government is the ultimate root of my current hardship). Yeah, a job would be great, but I’m not on benefits out of choice. I would genuinely love to work, I hate not working. But, the fatigue I suffer from (which my doctors seem incapable of doing anything about (believe me, I’ve tried getting them to do something)), makes it impossible for me to commit to being able to do anything within any specific timeframe. And the more I try to do the worse the fatigue gets. It’s something of a vicious circle.

Oh dear -- is there anything we can do to help with the underlying cause? Elect a government that doesn’t think that people on benefits, due to ill health or disability, are good targets for reducing spending.

Hey all.
The reason I’ve not been at the club recently is that my income has been massively reduced, to the extent that I can’t afford the war tax.
Anyway, to try and cushion the impact of this, and to hopefully be able to afford to come to the club again, I’m selling some games.
So, if anyone has any interest in purchasing any of the following, please let me know:
Snowdonia (plus The Siege of Petersburg, The Channel Tunnel, Jungfraubahn, Mount Washington, The Trans-Australian Railway, The Daffodil Line, and Rolling Stock #1 expansions) - £65.00 Spectre Ops (something stuck to one card) - £40.00 Now Boarding - £30.00 Pandemic : The Cure - £35.00 Pandemic : The Cure : Experimental Meds - £35.00 Pandemic 2013 Edition - £22.50 Pandemic : State of Emergency - £22.50 Istanbul The Dice Game - £15.00 War On Terror 2nd Edition - £30.00 Tokaido - £30.00 Awful Green Things from Outer Space (slight dishing and creasing on box, board warped, but otherwise in good condition) - £12.50 Crunch : The Game for Utter Bankers (box has some wear) - £7.50 Lunch Money (box has some wear) - £7.50 Falling (box has some wear) - £5.00
Thanks in advance.

Some of us will be RPGing so your player set may be limited, Simon will be in Amsterdam as well from memory.... Cool. I’ll not bring it next week then. Will maybe give me time to trying it solo before bringing it to the club.

Anyone interested in giving this a go? It’s a heavy economic/resource management/city building euro set in the Gloomhaven universe (several hundred years before the events of that game). And another where it would be helpful if everyone that wants to play, for the first game at least, having some understanding of the game. Paul Grogan (Gaming Rules!) did the official rules video, and I think does a good job of explaining it all: youtu.be/yLixGnYYfNAIt has a little asymmetry (but nowhere near as much as Root) and the most complicated part is the ‘trickle down’ scoring mechanism. Anyway, picked it up just before Xmas, so haven’t had a chance to play it, but thinking of bringing it next Monday if people are interested.

I’ll definitely be bringing it to the club in the future.
I’m not great at checking the forum often, but post here if you want me to bring it on a given week and if I see the post I will.
But there’s a high probability I’ll bring it on any given week.

Yeah, was a great game. Sorry it was a little marred by my not remembering some of the faction rule details - there’s just so much to remember. Anyway, I’m trying to find a good set of player aids, to help with that, but haven’t found a set I like yet. Regarding the ruin items I don’t think having two Vagabonds really makes much of a difference - with one vagabond there’s only one item under each ruin - with two there’s two. I guess you both felt you had to explore as quickly as you could, so the other didn’t get them all, but a single vagabond should be exploring early game anyway, as that’s how they get more actions. Lizards are definitely the hardest faction to play. I think I figured out what you’re meant to do with them, but not how. They’re so very dependant on (a) getting Acolytes and (b) what clearing suit is outcast. And both those are things you cannot easily control.

Apologies, hadn’t seen this before now.
Anyway, first player and seating order are determined randomly. But there is an order to faction setup (this matters the most when Marquise and Eyrie in being used).
From the rules:

Will be coming to the club tonight, and will be bringing Root (which I’d love to get a 3-player game of, to see how it plays at that player count).
But will be late because I want to watch the fireworks first.
Fireworks scheduled to start at 7:00pm, and usually last about 30 mins. So expect to arrive at about 8:00pm.

What boardgame playtest meetup??? Do people playtest wargames rules there? Tuesday nights, at the Cricketers. Not seen wargame rules being play tested there, but I’m sure you could.

I am now definitely not making it along tonight anyway.
Got to get latest prototype, of something I’m working on, all printed and sliced up, so I can take it along to the board game play test meetup tomorrow.
