Don’t worry, I’ve been thinking about how to better stomp on the Mice and that damn Raccoon too.

So, would people be keen to play again this coming Monday?
I keep thinking about how to play the birds better.
And how to better stomp on those damn cats...

That's Marquise DE CAT. I didn't spend all that time going to 'de Cat' school for nothing!!.. Whether it's true that it's not necessary to rule the clearings which are the source of wood. From the FAQ: 6.5.4.II. Marquise Must Always Rule to Access Wood: The language in this rule suggests that, when considering a connection of multiple clearings between your chosen build clearing and a clearing containing wood, you do not need to rule the clearing containing the wood. This is incorrect. You must rule every clearing in the chain, including the source clearing of the wood. boardgamegeek.com/thread/2038847/official-faq-and-guide-reading-rules

Lizards and Riverfolk?
They’re in the Riverfolk Expansion. Which I do have. But I want to play with just the base factions first. My understanding is the expansion factions are more complex.

Birds look really interesting, but probably the hardest to play (well).

Sweet. Will everybody be at the club this coming monday (10th)? I’m planning to be there, and should have finished reading the Learning to Play rules, so can bring it along then. If people want to choose, the base game factions are: - Marquise de Cat. Wishes to exploit the Woodland, using it’s vast resources to fuel her economic and military machine. Scores by constructing buildings. (Cats) - Eyrie Dynasties. Wish to reclaim the glory of their once-great aristocracy and retake the Woodland from the Marquise. Score by building and protecting roosts. (Birds) - Woodland Alliance. Wish to unite the Woodland against their oppressors. Score by spreading sympathy. (Mice) - Vagabond. Wishes to gain fame, or infamy, in the midst of the brewing conflict. Scores by completing quests, and aiding or harming other factions. (Raccoon) I’m happy to take whichever faction is left. Player order is determined by the factions chosen (they play in the order they’re listed above), though. But there is a walkthrough of the first two rounds, that we can use to get started. More info on the game can be found here: ledergames.com/root/boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/237182/root

Hello all,
Not going to be at the club tonight, but wanted to see if I could organise players for a game I would really like to get played in the near future.
Root is an asymmetric ‘COIN’ style ‘war game’, designed by Cole Werhle, in a Redwall-esque setting.
It plays 2-4 players, but apparently is best with 4, and, according to the box, takes 60-90 minutes.
Now, because of the asymmetry in the game it requires players who are going to pay full attention to the game and who are prepared to do some heavy lifting in terms of learning how their faction plays.
So, given all that, who is interested in playing?

So, we did play room building and improvement incorrectly in our game on Monday.
But not in the way that it was thought to be wrong.
So...
With the room building space (that is available from the start), you can ONLY build rooms of the level your house currently is, and you cannot mix wood, clay, and stone rooms in the same house.
What this means is that with the room improvement space that comes out later, you MUST upgrade ALL rooms in your house at the same time!

Having thoroughly enjoyed last Monday evening, I am planning on returning to the club on the 19th.
Anyway, I noticed someone brought Machi Koro last time, and this is game I would very much like to play, so as to see whether I would like to purchase it or not.
Would the owner of said game be willing to bring it along again, and might anyone else be interested in playing it?
