So, I have a decent bunch of RT era 40K lying about.
I've got Marines (many thousands of points), Imperial Guard (maybe 4k), a small Squat army (1k) and somewhere a bunch of unpainted Orks.
Oh, and a bunch of Genestealers.
I've got RT, Compendium and Compilation and most of the ork books.
I had some chaos marines somewhere too.

In the nightmare future of the fortieth millennia [sic], only the superior psychic mind of the Emperor shields humanity from certain extinction.
The galaxy is a hostile place...
So, I've been beavering away trying to get some Orks and Space Marines ready for 'Bring Out Your Lead', which is at the end of July. The intention is to play aome old school 1st edition Warhammer 40k and recreate the scenario in the original book: Battle at the Farm.
I had a game last Friday, with my half painted Orks versus a friend's excellent Rainbow Warriors (yes!). I would definitely like to play some more. My Orks are getting closer to being done daily. I'm still to get the marines even built, but they need to be done by the 30th July...
Anyone for a game? Maybe 17 or 24th?

Ah! You put the thread here in Fantasy! I've started another thread in the Science Fiction zone. You can certainly play 40k with low tech, bows and arrows and swords and shields. It's all in the blue book!
I'm up for game of this at the Monday club. Could be a good multiplayer game, 3 or 4 players, a couple of squads each.
I've got all the books, apart from an ork fluff book and a siege book which was shared with fantasy battle. The chaos books are great!
Miniatures-wise, I have a selectio, but they tend to be half or badly painted, etc. I'm working in some Orks and have some harlequins which are based and primed. I also have some harlequins which I painted in 1992, which are a little special...

The Orks are only a few hundred points. I can get a few thousand out of the harlequins I have. Some unassembled space marines and some assorted halfpainted regular eldar (I'd have to check the points). I just bought a vintage eldar dreadnought today...

Well if people are interested in playing Rouge Trader I’m certainly interested…also it might spur me on to paint more of my Marines, Squats, Harlequins and Imperial Guard!

Oh, I've got Siege somewhere...
I might need to strip/repaint some Eldar Harlequins for them to be useable. I do have a tonne of plastic Orks floating about; the single-pose ones, but re-weaponed to get some variety. They need painting as well...
I could put some decent sized armies of mixed Imperials in the field without any painting needed. I'm bit short on armour tho; I built the army when I was a student living basically next door to GW. So popping in and buying a couple of blisters of figures to paint of an evening was no problem (and cheaper than a TV licence back then) but affording the tanks was out of the question. And now they're all OOP!!! RARE!! 1000pounds!!
(I've never had much luck buying anything 40K on Ebay -- everyone seems to think that even bog-standard stuff is worth asking a massive premium for just because they're OOP and then they sit there for years repost them again and again..)

The place to get 'oldhammer' trades are in the various oldhammer groups on Facebook. There's also a non-FB olhammer forum, which I've signed up to but not contributed.

I am, as always, mrSpaceman. I've added you as a friend in the forum.
Do you want to try a three-way ork/harlequins/imperial battle? I can provide orks and harlequins. The harlequins won't be very well painted, given I did most of them when I was 11. I have a project to get a nicely painted harlequin force.
Incidentally, if you have any harlequin swaps, I'm looking for two troupers with power axes and one with a chainsword; I have a variety as trade. The army lists have squads of troupers with the same weapon and to complete squads 3 and 4 these are my need-to-haves. If playing a game you can easily have mixed squads, tho'...

Alas no Harlequin swaps…once I completed my collection so I had enough for a decent force and one of each original metal Harlequin (plus jetbike) I sold the spares.
Will we be using toughness 4 Marines or toughness 3? Anyhow would like to use my marines and looking at what I have painted its: 5 Terminators with lightning claws, 1 Terminator Captain, 1 Marine Medic, 1 Devastator squad (plus a Deathwatch Assault Marine, seconded from the Black Templars, who hates everything thats not Imperium and human)

I have a Space Marine (Blood Angels) army that can join in. Also as blasphemous as it sounds am hoping to try the latest (8th edition) as occasional member Peter has got a copy.
