I don't like Harlequin lists, I always end up playing solitaire.....

But if a guardsman would see a harlequin on the battlefield, they would avatar with their lasgun (a terrible pun; very, very sorry).

Reviewing the Imperial Guard rules for RT, it looks like at least one lascannon is obligatory for every squad, no matter its role. Is anyone going to mind if I use a range of heavy weapon types to represent lascannons?

I reckon you should just use whatever weapon is in your squad and not worry about the army list rules too much. You should be able to work out the modified points values of whatever you've got. What sort of heavy weapons have your troopers got?

So I have my support weapons concerntrated in a mortar squad, a fire support squad with assault cannons which can pass muster as Heavy Bolters or Autocannons (the gatling barrels fit thematically with the colonial theme of the Praetorians), and an anti-tank squad with lascannons. I have a bunch of other unassembled heavy weapons, it's possible I will put them together as well at some point.
Regarding how to stick lists together, It's your call really, I have a 5th edition army configuration where I use squads armed exclusively with lasguns, I can certainly dick around with points and see how it goes on the day. One thing I won't compromise on is Commissars: being obliged to roll a random number of them per game is sheer genius and I honestly don't know why the later editions made them optional.

Well, one problem is that they were expensive figures and people needed to have loads around in case they rolled high...

I'm going to try making it down this evening. In case there's interest, I'll bring along the models Battle at the Farm (the scenario in the original Rogue Trader rulebook). If anyone wants a go at that, it's quite a quick game - we could even play two (switching sides).

Well, that didn't happen but I am happy to host something next time if people are interested.

OK, so perhaps not "next time." I'm not sure I can do this coming Monday. But I will try to prepare a scenario and some simple forces for the week after, if that would interest anyone.

I'm not going to be able to make the club until Easter Monday at the earliest. I'd be keen to play this, Kryomek or something like Invasion of Canada. I'd also be interested in hearing about how any RT games go in my absence.

Success!
I've spent the last two days looking for my collection of original RT era Genestealer cult models. I now have a large collection of models that will need painting. What I am thinking of doing is creating an army that can be used in RT, 2nd ed, and maybe if I feel like it the most modern version. Now all I need to do is find the RT era army list.

For RT Genestealer Cult rules, it's in the Compendium (yellow cover one, not to be confused with the Battle Manual, also yellow). I have a copy. It's on Scribt, as are all the RT books, which will be a better scan than I would do.
However, if you want a genestealer cult alogned with chaos, you'll have to use the Slaves to Darkness book's rules for daemon princes and the like (and maybe The Lost and the Damned, not sure). StD is back in print, but only available from Warhammer World in Nottingham until stock runs out. They reprinted it for the 40th anniversary. I think there may be copies of the RT main book there, too; reprinted, for the same reason, a few years ago.
