Just running the numbers and the Imperial Guard compulsory army list is designed for much larger forces. I can do some points re-allocation so the force will still be structured like an IG platoon but will fit into the points limit above. Be prepared for a list of assumptions!

I can field a minimal harlequin force for a little under 500pts (~481pts, given my available models' arms). I'll have a good few to paint just for that.
The next planned step will bring the force to around 804pts. Much more to paint, however.
I could add a few badly painted characters to the minimal force to essentially make any points. Or buff up the units I was going to field anyway.
I better get painting...

In the meantime, I'm planning to pop down this evening. I can bring the Battle at the Farm bits.

I looked at the Imperial Guard list. The minimum is around 1200pts, right? We can set the points limit to that, and I can see what I can do. --- In other news...Kryomek in Warhammer 40,000! Someone in 1993 created a WH40kRT army list for Kryomek, published as an article in a 'fanzine' (although I've heard it described as a 'prozine') called Inquisitor. I found out about it, spoke to the author (Tim DuPertuis) and they kindly scanned it for me. I made a PDF of the scans: www.dropbox.com/s/m7u3g3v0hpwzdev/Kryo40k.pdfThe author asks for feedback if we use it. So, if I can't get my harlequins in a row, maybe I can get some kryomek sorted or borrow from Katie (pretty please?!).

At 1200, a reasonable Harlequin list is possible.
I might have 1200 points of Orks floating about.
I have a lot of unpainted figures -- one of the slightly annoying things about Ork armies for RT is that almost all of their kit is random rolls... And you're supposed to build the figures around those rolls, not "pick up what you've got in the spares box & can collect for a not stupid price off the-thing-the-future-calls-ebay"...
TBH, the ones I have are "what was in the blisters that were half price in the sale" so they're *fairly* random...

Er, 1200 points it is! Should be able to get a bit of variety in anyway.

In prep for this, I dug out the reference data I wrote.... YIKES. 25 years ago... And ran it through my more recent LaTeX formatting tools to produce a QRS for weapons&tables and a sheet with figure stats. www.fysh.org/~katie/wargames/downloads/40k/I can add stuff to the figure stats as needed -- I have a file which includes most of the figures from RT, Compilation, Companion & WD of the era. (Did you know there were three different sets of stats for genestealers?)

(Did you know there were three different sets of stats for genestealers?) 3 genestealers: original book (the sun worm genestealer), Compendium (invasion force and cult lists) and White Dwarf (tyranid army list)? I have only heard talk of the last one, although it be nice to see it. Which one's the one on your sheet, Katie? Compendium?

(the sun worm genestealer) That would be a thing of pure nastiness. I suspect you meant the Ymgarl Genestealer? This chap: As a Sun Worm Genestealer would be a Stealer that likes sunbathing, and then if you get near it flashes like a photon grenade.

The one on the sheet is Compendium's stealer army list. I have a slightly piratey pdf of the Tyranid list whose piratosity is somewhat offset by the fact I also own a copy of the WD issue with it in.
I have started painting Harlequins!

For some reason I thought they were in symbiosis with the sunworm (another beastie in the bestiary), but checking it up they are native to different worlds; the Ymgarl genestealer is apparently symbiotic with the "csith"...

I'm not going to be able to make it this evening. When my wife puts bookclub on the calendar on Tuesday, she really means Monday...
I'm interested to hear how the ganes goes down, tho'.
In other news, I bought the 2nd edition boxset (without miniatures). I might up for a few games of that one too: maybe the scenarios in the box? Another thread, another day...

No worries. As Katie has advised she will not be able to attend there may not be any action this evening. I will bring the 58th in case anyone is interested though.
