Maybe, if I make it there. I'm currently needing rather more sleep than it's possible to get on days that also involve going to work. I'm only awake now because I had a four hour nap earlier....

I suggest we write a rain cheque this time. I need to get more painting done before Bring Out Your Lead at the end of the month and time is scarce.
Hope that you start feeling more spritely again soon! We should schedule some sci-fi skirmish in the near future. August might be good for me.

So I have a (Praetorian) Imperial Guard force who only need a bit of work to take the field and I am intrigued in the idea of salvaging them. I also have a fair few Space Marines who are in need of some serious TLC but who I would also be interested in restoring. Honestly, I can't remember a version of Warhammer 40,000 I found particularly stimulating to play but I would be happy to join battle with any of you lot if there is interest. It would be nice to see the 58th Fusliliers on the table again.
I can have a 2,000point force ready for late October, if there is interest.

I can probably match that 2000pts with some Eldar-y type things. It'll be Rogue Trader rules. If you dont have those books, and if you want me to, I can try compiling your forces into their appropriate stats.

I would love to play Rogue Trader, never even seen a game - just heard the rules discussed in hushed tones throughout my gaming life. I'd like to discuss this in more depth at the club, if you are in next week. I can bring an inventory of the units I may be deploying.

I only just saw this message. You at the club next week?

Next week I'm on holiday in Wales, I need to stare at the Irish Sea. The following week (2nd October) I will be at the club, I would appreciate being able to take a few notes on the Rogue Trader rules so I can work up an army list.

Staring at the Irish Sea is a worthwhile pastime. Probably good for the soul.
I've just realised that next week is probably one of the only Mondays I have free until about December. I've signed up to a language course on Monday evenings, which pretty much precludes any other Monday night activity.
In RT, the rules for Imperial Guard troops are spread across a few different books, depending on what troops you have. You could also consider an imperial robot, for which you would need to design a program. I've not played those rules before, but they look utterly old school. There's rules for rough riders, too: imperial guard on horses! Maybe they made it to later editions, I'm not sure? You can also field beastmen in your imperial army; they're just considered to be a form of 'abhuman': like a squat, ogryn or ratling (i.e. halfling). I bet everything that was in an imperial guard army in the next few editions (II -> IV, say) will have been covered in one of the RT books somewhere.

I'm free on 23rd November. I can at least put a game of "Battle at the Farm" on, as I have the miniatures and terrain required. BatF was the scenario in the original book. SPOILER: It's nigh on impossible for the Orks to win.
Maybe a balanced version of this scenario can be formulated. Fewer space marines, Orks with psionic powers or bionic limbs, ...

I never replied to your last post on this one, mrspaceman. If you're still up for a game in November I should be able to field an army.
Having recovered the 58th from their incredibly dull post guarding the inside of a Departmento Munitorium cardboard box on Bakka, I have taken inventory and am keen to build a force to an agreed points level, but have no idea what the points costs for Rogue Trader actually are. Does anyone have access to the old grimoires and could let me take a few notes at the next club night?

I'm not able to do Mondays in November. I noticed my post saying Nov 23rd; I meant Oct 23rd (i.e. last week).
Next possible free Monday is Dec 11th, when my Monday evening classes have finished. I'm up for either a game of RT or Kryomek (always Kryomek!).
I'd you've got a list of your Imperials, I can look at which RT books are relevant. I only have a small force of Orks, currently, and a larger force of Eldar/Harlequins, but mostly unpainted.

I have no objection to fighting Orks or Harlequins in December. Seems to me a small game would be better at this stage as I don't know the rules and it seems they are a little more granular than later editions of the game!
